I’ve been searching on and off for a few weeks to find an easy-to-use text-to-speech option that integrates with blogging software. Mostly, I started looking because my mom has not been able to read for the last 28 years (she had a stroke when I was 5). I wanted her to be able to follow along with my personal blog, but she can’t read the posts, so I had to find a way to get the blog to easily read itself to her. Because she has trouble learning new things, it couldn’t really be anything requiring more than a simple click.
Anyways, I seem to have found it. The service is called Odiogo, and it functions off the existing RSS feed for your blog. If you want Odiogo to read the full text of your blog, you must be burning the full text to the feed.
So if you haven’t actually “hopped over” to the actual blog lately, go check out my new audio feed! (click on LISTEN on any blog post)
I think I’ve now made my blog ADA compliant (not that I had to, but it’s a nice touch).
